I get out a lot and I always have a pocket full of pens. Folks will stare at my pocket full of pens and finally they ask why do you have so many pens and I casually look down at my pocket and believe me I can come up with some good answers, and it always happens when I pull one out of my pocket and the folks say whoa. My wife is usually with me and I say honey do you have any pens in your purse and of course she does. The most I ever sold was 5 and most often its 1. I don't sell a lot but it keeps me out of the bars and I don't drink. Its just a good selling point.

Preston; That is a great idea !! Anything that will draw the eye to an object is a starting point for interest and conversation. I think you would draw a little more interest if you were to put the clips on the inside of the pocket and let the pens hang outside. Just a thought. However, If I also had that many pens in my pocket, I also would be by myself. or with Ted. Jim S
 
Well I went out today but I waited till I lined my pocket with pens when she wasn't looking and guess what, I sold two pens. Not much but I did sell 2 and handed out some cards.

Dang this is fun. One guy asked what all the pens were doing in my pocket and I told him I was a pen and paper artist and drew portraits on the spot for $1,000.00 and he said no. He laughed and bought a pen.

That's an interesting advertising approach! I would have to use a pocket protector if I tried that! :biggrin:
 
I do something simular I have a "few" (about a dozen) on my desk when people are signing in to see a doctor I get a lot of comments on the nice pen collection. I tell them they are all homemade by me and I usually sell a few a week. Sold 3 this week and a peppermill (they set on a shelf behind me as "decoration") last week I sold 2 bowls and a potpourrie pot to one lady who was looking for gifts to take with her when she went to visit family back east. I have several people who stop by to see whats new.
