i wanted to thank you for the great words of encouragement recently, i had lost interest in the shop due to other stresses in my life and it wasn't till a week or so ago that i looked at the iap again. it started getting me in the mood again and as i said, got some uplifting words from my fellow turners. i went out to the shop and like an old friend my lathe welcomed my with open arms.

this is the result of tonight's shop time. it was a request for my best friend to give to his wife for their anniversary. i told him on the weekend that i would sell him something from my inventory, but i felt i owed it to them to make something special.

It's just like riding a bicycle. Glad to see you're back on the lathe. I hope this is just the first of many nice items to come. I can't wait to see them.

Marc, it looks like you haven't lost your touch. I'm sure the friends wife will love it! Gorgeous piece of wood. Glad you made it back into the shop!

sometimes that break can make a difference.. you can come back to it with a different outlook. Looks good from here..
 
I'm glad you decided to back to YOUR space, with YOUR friends. BTW, you have more than a few here too. This pen is a beauty, and a nice choice for the kit. Keep going.

i was so pulling for a pine theme. and to be honest i wasn't going to join the pith this time around, but this post changed my mind. just the fact that i did something that stood out as much as that pine pen makes me feel so good. now i'm off to sign up for the fall pith, thanks you mr.oliver
