Here is a Texas Cedar Elm lidded box I did recently. It is 5.5"x1.75" and is finished with Deft gloss lacquer. It is a crotch piece that had some really neat red colored spots almost like knots but no quite. It is also spalted. The knob on the top is Texas black walnut.

she's a real beaut curtis... great job. a question if you will, did you glue a small block on top as you were nearing the finished lid to create the knob or did you turn it separately and then attach it?

Thanks guys for the nice comments!

ahoiberg: I actually turned the lid to what I wanted except for the tenon on the back side. I then used a drill bit in a drill chuck to drill a 1/4" hole part of the way in the lid. I then turned the knob with a 1/4" tennon and parted it off and glued it onto the lid. Seemed to work quite well.
