Tailstock question

My tail stock is coming unscrewed at the end. It is not turning the center inward anymore. How do I fix this?

If I understand you correctly (and I'm not sure I do), I think you may have over extended your TS spindle. Lock down the TS so it won't move. Then grab the center/spindle with your left hand and try to push it back into the TS while turning the handwheel with your right hand in a counter-clockwise direction.

If that doesn't work, you will have to explain your problem in a little more detail.

On mine, if I loosen the lock handle too much the whole spindle will just revolve instead of retracting. If this is what's happening just turn the spindle till the groove is back in alignment what the lock handle and turn the lock handle till it's back in the groove and you should be good to go.

Yep.. what Randy said.

Sounds like you've over traveled the spindle. (gone past the threads)
It should go back if you give it a push while you're turning the crank.

Always possible the guy's wife cleaned up his shop for him and now he can't find anything??
