Good evening all,

I have a craftsman table saw model #315.218050 about 2 years old always cleaned looks basically brand new. The problem is it just stopped a few days ago. I was running some test cuts for shelving, the cuts looked great and went to run the rest but it would not power up. Total down time from the test cut to trying to cut the final about 2 mins. I check all the plugs, reset the surge protector, plugged the bandsaw in the outlet worked fine. I check all connections still nothing. I'm thinking the switch could be the problem. It did not seem to make the same type of click as it did. We all know the feel of a switch when you use a tool all the time and this time it just did not feel the same.

I was wondering if there is a quick way to see if the switch is toast? Has anyone else ever ran into this type of problem?

Thanks
Jesse

The quickest way I know is with a volt/ohm meter. There should be 4 wires on the switch. Unplug the saw and mark the wire locations. There should be 2 innies from the plug and 2 outies to the motor. Check for continuity between the ins and outs. My Delta did the same thing not long ago, and a few sprays of electrical contact cleaner did the trick.

Is the safety key fully engaged? The one on my craftsman table saw comes loose sometimes.

It looks okay, but when I try to flip the switch, it doesn't engage.

Taking the key out and putting it back in seems to fix the problem temporarily.
