Incra

I have the Incra set up with the sliding table and find it works very well. The angles are dead on. I also use the Wixy digital angle guage to set the saw blade.

Here is a set of easy to make plans. Just be sure that the boards are cut VERY SQUARE.

I also use the Incra 3000 miter and cut my my setup angles for the segments using it then transfer the setup angle to the sled above. So far everything is dead on. I do it this way since I find that it is very important to grip and hold the main piece of "stock" AND the angle cut segment. I also cut many segments and it helps me to not have to fight the stock piece. I am in the long term process of setting up for a segmented vase that is going to have well over 900 segments in it. Arggggh!

All it takes is a second 'touch' of the blade to ruin the segment or your stock piece. There can be no slop in the miter bar mounted to the sled base either.

Be sure to keep ALL dust and sawdust off the sled between each and every cut of your segments. Woodcraft and others sell flip down adjustable grips that work most excellent in through holding all the cuts. Follow the plans idea of gluing a piece of sandpaper to the front edge as that really helps you keep everything where it ought to be.

Good luck on your segments. Post pictures of your results later on.

Evidently I am thinking of a different type of segment that NWCATMAN wants to turn.

Oh well, maybe someone can modify the sled I suggested to be a bit smaller ... I tried!
