Glad to get power back on from this horrific storm Sandy. This is one for the record books. This storm was probably the worst that ever hit NJ and surounding states and it would take some historians to look back in the archieves. I hope all that were in the path and in the grips of this storm made it through with their lives. I know many and I mean many suffered great personal material damages and it will take months if not years to rebuild what once was. Thank God for your life. I can say I faired pretty well with minor damage as well as most of my family. Except my sister who had 8 feet of water in her house and the clean up begins. Many familys in her area had their basements blow out and have been red flaged as unsafe to return to. I have been manning a generator at my 89 year old Mom's house. She too has gotten power restored and we are trying to get things back to normal so that her confusion can subside abit. Not been easy.
On a lighter note I thought I stepped back in time when there was gas rationing and the lines were miles long. Back to the days of odd and even number lisence plate rationing is shocking to see again. The long lines of people carrying gas cans to fill up for generators was astounding again. As more and more power is turned on and more tankers from the ports and more tank trucks can get to stations will ease the gas burden. It was so errie to come to traffic lights that did not work and intersections where people actually had to be courteous and let others go before them.
It is something I never want to live through again. Again I hope the members here and their familys are safe and if you have damage hope things work out quickly.
One other thing as I come back to the site I see some very interesting and some contriversory topics which I think I will put my thoughts into. I think these topics will help strengthen the site and may lead to some new ideas and improvements in the future. As I look back from what just had happened I realize more and more how penmaking is just a past time and has nothing to do with the grand scheme of life and how fragile we all are and how vulnerable we all are so enjoy this great hobby for what it is intended to be, FUN.
See you on the other forums.
