Stupid question

I've seen a lot of pens made with blanks that are painted. I have an idea that is similar and was wondering what is necessary after applying the paint. Do I need to seal it with something before casting it? What is used? Or just cast right over the painted image?
Your advice is appreciated before I attempt this and mess it up.

I have always sprayed a few coats of clear acrylic or Modge Podge over the painting to fix it in place. Seemed like a good idea at the time and it worked, so I kept doing it.

That what I do. My daughter paints the tubes with acrylic paints and then puts a clear coat over it. Not sure it is necessary, but if it ain't broke....
Remember to wipe off the finger prints before casting (DAMHIKT).

Do you use any particular clear coat? Will something like the Rustoleum spray work? Does it stick good, the resin doesn't pop loose?

I can check to see what she uses. It is nothing special. Probably something from Michaels.

I think you want to avoid anything oil base because the PR will eat it up. I think Acrylic/water based is the way to go as it will not react to PR. Just be sure to give it a few days to dry before casting.

I have never done this. Just what I have gathered in reading on IAP. I have lost blanks due to them being painted w/ Spray paint and the PR causing it to bubble and peel.
