My first foray into woodworking was with a Scrollsaw and I subscribed to this guy, Steve Good and enjoyed getting his daily free plans and helpful ideas. he wasn't a penturner but helped me on my way in the woodworking world.

Steve was a very talented and caring man. His blog reached around the world nearly every day for many years. I found him about 15 years ago and looked forward to his daily emails. He also very supportive toward new scrollers. Many of his free patterns were directed towards people with their first saw just getting their feet wet with a few more advanced ones thrown in for those of us that have been doing this for a few decades. He will be sorely missed.
 
As a long time scrollsawer I followed Steve's blog and made many of his patterns over the years. I have shown some of my work here over the years. I was going to mention his passing here on the site but not sure how many scrollers we have here. he will be missed for sure. His passing was a surprise and I wish his family condolencess and prayers.

I posted on another scrollsaw site just this morning that I compared Steve to Norm Abrams of the woodworking world. In that norm too was always a gentleman when you met him and was giving with his knowledge and brought many woodworkers to light with his shows and the use of tools. His gift of showing us all how to make projects using simple methods. Steve did the same. He is now scrolling in heaven with some of the other big name pattern makers nd scrollers of our time.RIP Steve.

I saw it on the SV site. You are absolutely correct.
 
Sad news indeed. I learned quite a bit from Steve when I started scrollsawing again 2-3 years ago, especially his honest and in-depth tool reviews.
