Steel City Drill Press

I saw a rumor on Sawmill Creek that Steel City would be offering their laser guide for free with the purchase of the Drill Press so I wrote to SC and asked 'em - Guess what! They wrote back and confirmed the rumor! From 9/1 thru 3/31/08 the laser will be offered with the drill press. They didn't say if it was in the form of a rebate or not, but guess what I'm getting after the first of September

You will be very happy with it. I have the Steel City Drill press and it is wonderfull. I had a small HF bench top before getting this guy and I am so happy with it. I already had an aftermarket laser guide so I didn't get the Steel City one. Once you have the 6" of travel you'll wonder how you got by without it.

Dave - I'm really looking forward to getting rid of my 12" Craftsman bench top press. It can be a real PITA not being able to complete a hole with out moving the table up[!]

edit: Was it you that posted the step-by-step of unpacking and assembling your SCDP? I know I ran across a series of pics but don't remember where...

I recently bought the 17 inch drill press and the lasar came in a sperate box.

The unit was easy to assemble but the belts are squeaking a lot and I am not sure why.
