Here is another current experience with Steebar. A guy in New Zealand posted on another forum that he was having some trouble with his order and needed some help since Steebar was not replying to his emails. I volunteered to help him since I had just had the "pleasure" of dealing with them to solve a problem of my own. I communicated directly with Steebar over a period 2 months during which time I made about 15 phone calls to Steebar. Fortunately, I had an unpublished 800 phone number for them or my phone bill would have been outrageous.

The original order was for $160 US± and was placed in the middle of March and I got involved in the middle of April. Steebar told me the ordered items were on back order and were expected shortly. Said their lack of response to multiple email inquiries was due to problems with their email provider. They did not have any explanation for why charges were made to the credit card when the items were not in stock or why no notice had been sent informing the customer that his items were on back order.

A month later (mid May), the items were still not available and their email was still not working so a refund was requested.

A month later (mid June), the credit had not been received and their email was still not working. Explanation-an oversight, we’ll take care of it; but not the slightest hint of an apology.

About a week later the credit finally showed up; but their email is still not working!!

Anyone think an Internet seller can provide good/any customer service without a functioning email capability??

Three plus months to extract a credit for a charge that should have never been made in the first place!!!

For future reference,in case anyone runs into similar problems, the 800 phone number is 1-800-653-1930. It seems to be hooked up to a fax machine before 10 AM and after 4 PM.

And as a final ironic note, when the Steebar order was canceled, a new order was placed with another vendor. The new order order arrived on his door step several weeks before the credit was received from Steebar.

I know there are folks out there who have ordered from Steebar and received their orders without incident. But the real test of a company is not its routine transactions; but how well it deals with its problem transactions.

Thanks Randy.

I think they will never get any order from me since I also saw similar venting of problems w/ Steebar in other forums I visit.
