Stabilizing Setup

Looking to get into stabilizing.

Anyone have any equipment they want to sell or trade?

Is there a good package deal out there or any suggestions on what would be a good product to buy?

I'm thinking it might be fun to stabilize and use color at the same time?

What kinds of woods or reasons would I stabilize?

Sorry to sound stupid on this topic but I've never done it before and I'm trying to figure out simply...why/when would I stabilize so I can apply the process accordingly.
