Stabilized Wood

I just ordered several stabilized wood blanks and am not sure what to expect. Do I finish the stabilized wood like I would a resin blank? That is, skip the CA and work it all the way up to the finest micro mesh then buff and polish. Or do I treat it like raw wood using CA?

It can vary with the wood and stabilization process. Most of the time you can do as you suggested with resin/plastic. Be your own judge when the turning is complete. Or, as I sometimes do with unusual woods or blanks, turn to round but far from the bushings. Then sand, examine, test a finish or whatever, make a decision then complete turning.

I use either CA or Enduro to finish stabilised wood with excellent results.[]

I recently turned a couple of stabilized wood and they can go without a finish but I wasn't happy so I applied CA still and it finished much better (for me). Without a finish, it was not as shinny...more like matted finish which others may prefer.

I agree with Frank...also depends on several factors; how it was stabilized; what wood, etc. Some wood lend to stabilization process better than others. Different companies use different formula and process, etc.
