While bending the brim of the hat earlier this week (takes three days to bend) I made up these tops for next weekends craft show. I sold quite a few tops last year but people would wince at the price so I thought I would try this style that I can sell for less. These have no finish, no metal point/tip and are only sanded to 150 grit. last years top took three hours to make, these i make in thirty minutes.

You're making me think I'm lazy. I have some 1/4"x 3 1/4" sycamore that's quarter sawn. I just make it round and put a golf pencil in it. The higher you move the wood up, the larger the spirals get. One of those and a piece of paper can occupy me, I mean, the grandkids for hours.
