In one of the .pdf articles from The Library here at IAP on making aluminum pens, the author suggests "getting a heavy duty 3/4" HSS scraper from a place like Harbor Freight for around 10 bucks".
I have some aluminum blanks for a cigar pen that I'd like to turn and have been scouring the web for one the the thick shanked, heavy duty types of scrapers he is referring to.
The cheapest scraper of that description I can find is a little over 30 bucks on Ebay, and it is 1" wide....a bit large and unwieldy for pen turning I'd think. Not too bad as to price, but then I may never find a use for such a tool on over two or three aluminum pens.
Does anyone here know of an internet source for one of these "cheapie" 3/4" HSS scrapers with the thick (3/8" or so) shank? I'd take it handled or unhandled.
All suggestions and links appreciated
