Hi Folks,

I just got into lidded boxes and I am having a good time with them (well making them...not dating them LOL).

I got the pop-top down, but thought out making threaded lids. I see that Sorbey has some tools that do the threading. Does any one have any experiene with them. I have watched some videos. I do see that there are some neat jigs out there. I am planning a move soon and don't want any more equipment. I am finding myseld giving good stuff away.

Thanks for reading and have a great week!

Tony: I have been threading for several years and can say the best tool for spot on threads on all type of hardens wood is Chefware threading kit. Once you have one of these you will never look for another threading device.

I heartily agree. I have the Chefware threading jig and it is an excellent tool. If you pursue hand chased threads you will be very disappointed in the variety of woods you will be able to thread. Almost no domestic woods will allow hand chased threads. The Chefware jig, however, will cut threads on any wood. I would highly recommend it.

I will give this a look. Thank you!

Hand threading is a true art. I've had limited success with doing it. Bonnie Klein had a video a while back that you might be able to find on YouTube where she shows some different techniques. Lately, I have tried and liked the Stainless Steel Bottle Stopper threaded rings. They come in different sizes and metals. Info and video
