Well this is just a rant. I just got this email from this guy.

"Hi,
I never received your inquiry and the lathe sold yesterday. Sorry.
Carmen"

Gee he posted midnight Wednesday and I posted 8:30 in the morning I would take it to PM me to work out the details. Here's a link to the thread
http://www.penturners.org/forum/showthread.php?t=53539

Gee I PMed him and sent an Email via the forum. But like I said the point is if your going to deal on the net and post a thread for crying out loud check on it. Heck he has logged into the forum every day a least twice a day I checked that.

Sorry for the rant it's been a bad day and it's probably for the better as I just wrecked the car. And the cat went to Vet the other day got in a fight and needed a few stitches and the fridge conked out this morning.

Any way just wanted to get that off my chest. I know this sort of thing is rare here on IAP we are all for the most part responsible. Guess I will be cleaning the shop and putting some stuff up to help raise some bucks. The cat was $250 the fridge. $350 the truck a $165 ticket at least I can still drive it just got the front end riped off missing a headlight. I think I can rig something up to get the light working.

Oh well that's life
Thanks for listening

Bruce, I came across that thread yesterday and was wondering about it. I know at one time it was tossed around about there being some criteria you need to meet to be able to advertise at least for a business or as an organizer of a group buy. Things like a min time you have been a member and such. I know that having your name address and contact info in your profile came from that. Maybe we need something like that as far as any classifieds go. My thinking is just a part of an overall thought that this group has grown into a pretty close and trusting community. Although that atmosphere is nice to be a part of it also creates a vulnerability at the same time. I have seen what seems to me fairly new members start a buy of one kind or another and seen page ofter page of people jump in. the effect from my perspective is that the members have become so accustom to being treated fairly that they have almost forgotten to ask questions at least once in a while. This issue is particularly dear to me as I feel I have worked hard to develop that trust among the group. I would take it personally to see people taken advantage of because of it.
I see you being just such a victim. It has become expected to be treated fairly and that personal adds will be given proper attention. I agree that your reply was far more than adequately timely. I am not sure just what to suggest as a repercussion of failing to uphold the "Nature" of this group. But I do value that nature enough to protect it. For now I will only offer not just to you but to everyone. If the name is not familiar. you may very well need to wonder if they are a "Part" of this group.
Sorry you got burned. And I sure hope things turn around for you. sounds like you have had much better weeks.

Bruce, you need to go to Ybor, order a large Cuban and deviled crab that will fix anything. BTW I'll take one of each also:biggrin::tongue::wink:.

I am the person who was selling the lathe and I assure you that I am "Part" of the group. There was no deception or anything like that intended. Sometimes there is more to a situation than meets the eye.

Bruce there was a young lady selling an almost brand new Delta lathe down here in Ft Myers for about 250.00, at the time i was the only one looking at it. I still have her contact info is it worth chasing it down for you or will you be putting off the purchase for awhile? It didnt have any extras, just the lathe, toolrest, and stand. MIke

Carmen, Nothing about my post was directed at your intentions. They where directed at Bruce's as well as others expectations. expectations that have come about because of an atmosphere of trust and fair play.
I do find it interesting that you introduce the issue of deception though. Doesn't really matter much at this point. It does not get Bruce a lathe now does it?

Carmen, seven posts and one deal gone sideways does not place you in the group which Daniel is referring. Many of us have been on this forum a long time and we've bought, sold, traded, donated, and gifted between each other many times over. In just about every one of those various dealings people have gone above and beyond to ensure that the deal was as good as it gets. More than fair, prompt service, high level of honesty, and very generous. It's good folks doing their best to do right by one another.

I'm not trying to shoot holes in your integrity, but you don't have enough experience with this group to qualify yourself as part of what Daniel was referring too. Sometimes life does get in the way and the ball gets dropped. Whatever the reason, I doubt you were trying to be deceptive with your ad.

Bruce, I do hope things get better for you soon. Your week sounds a lot like mine.
