I blew up 2 blanks and my first segmented blank - chestnut/redheart/indian rosewood - turned out bad because at one end epoxy got into the chestnut. I am thinking of attempting a save by very carefully turning off the chestnut at the ends and adding a slice of some other darker wood.

I hate it when they blow up. The sooner they blow up the happier.
So less work has been done. That does sound kind of wrong, doesn't it

Nope, sounds perfectly logical to me. I don't care nearly as much about wasting the tube or the blank as wasting all the time prepping the blank, and in one case, the casting.

I think I can save the segmented blank. If I can I will post a pic of it, and lesson learned for next time.
