Hi everyone

There we go again...! what is it?, what's his name?, what is it made of? are those natural colours? where does it lives, water or in land? how big does it grows? is it a natural or synthetic product? does it wiggles? does it bite?

There are 20 normal size pen blanks for the person that gets it right, send anywhere on hearth via air-mail. This person have to select 3 of the questions and give the the correct answer, which will become quite easy after identifying correctly what it is!

Who want's to give it a go? there will be no silly guesses related to this issue, as it can be anything, anything at all...!believe me!

PS: Just a hint, "assuming" in this case, can put you a long way, away from the correct answer! confused...? good!

I'm giving it 2 1/2 days, so that people don't get too anxious...!
I have also the same thread challenge started last night at the Penturner's Paradise, and is getting interesting, reason why I though in share the same challenge here so that people can have a play...! lets have some fun...!

Is only one person apart from me, here in Australia, that knows the answer so that person is out!

Cheers
George

Hi everyone,

Keeps those guess coming...!

Is only one person here in Australia that I'm counting out, there is if he/she realizes what's going on...! I didn't say to this person what I was going to do, but I'm just playing safe. It would be interesting if I would reveal who this person is, but I've already forgot her/his name... did it start with a B...? or was a D...? could even be a T...? or a G...?, is it the forum name or the personal name...?
There many other Aussies that are most welcome to play...!

Someone may have already got close, or maybe not at all...! I still need 3 answers picked out of my selection, and given the correct answer...!

Hey, hey... did someone just called me a "bastard"...?:biggrin:

Cheers
George

I will play, but have no idea what it is so I will use logic.
are those natural colours? - YES
is it a natural or synthetic product? - SYNTHETIC
does it bite? - NO

What is it? Squid

Are those natural colors? Yes

Where does it live? Water

Does it wiggle? Yes

What is it? Eel

Are those natural colors? Yes

Where does it live? Water

Does it wiggle? Yes

What it is? Dead, really, really dead
What is it made of? Stuff and things unknown to the living
Does it bite? Maybe ... if it were still alive

Well, maybe it is Harry Potter's wand after having a really, really bad day!

Whatever it is I do believe it is just about stretched out to it's limit.

Hi everyone,

There is no lack of imagination around here, for sure...!

There is quite OK to give as many guesses as you want...

Just remember, first you need to tell what it is (or you think it is!), then you pick 3 questions, and give it the answers.

As a tinny bitie "hint", I can say that, started being very unpleasant, then become very pleasant, them become very disappointing and frustrating, and now did become quite and surprisingly nice, all of a certain...!

Someone did asked me, are the 20 pen blanks as the winning award/price, the same "thing" as the sample??? Well, my answer was, probably...! and probably not...! after all, I don't recall to have read that the sample is a pen blank, huh?, but then and again, is no reason for not the be so, as much as this is intended to be some sort of "clue" I would be over the moon to know that I've got everyone even more confused...!:biggrin:

The day after tomorrow, we all find out what this "thing" is...!

Have fun...!

Cheers
George

Okay I guess I did this slightly wrong before so here is my guess;
That this a Cassowary leg skin. This bird grows to be about 5 feet tall. It is on land. And although it isn't known for its bite I guess it does kick pretty hard. Bob I

Ok,
going to take a stab at this:
What is it? The tail from a Goanna
Does it bite? The tail no but the other end has been know to.
Natural color? yes
Size? depends 2cm - 2m

what is it? -- Hhmm, I have some that looks just like it.

what's his name? -- Macadamia

what is it made of? -- wood

are those natural colours? -- yep, and that surprised me once I got in it.

where does it lives, water or in land? -- land

how big does it grows? -- 30 - 40 ft

is it a natural or synthetic product? -- natural

does it wiggles? - only in a wind

does it bite? -- not if you don't count the nuts falling on your head

It's a dried bull penis

I imagine the bull would do more than bite if you grabbed his stuff
It's natural
It wiggles when it sees a pretty calf
It lives on land.

Well, well, well... who would guess...?
In between those that had no clue what I was talking about, some very interesting and smart suggestions to the most hilarious possibilities that some people did come up with, I can most certainly understand how some people thought of certain things that have in fact some resemblance, that I never though of!
In the end, similiarities and close appearances may not represent the reality of the item showed on the first pics, which in fact is one of the first blanks cut only a couple of days after I removed those 2 "Bottle Brush" trees from the neighbor's back yard, so Mr Curly, from the Canadian Penturner's Paradise forum, you got the bulls-eye on this one, congratulations.
About 80 to 100 blanks that I was going to make firewood with, as they (or some of them) have really "moved" since cut. They were simply cut at 3/4" square, numbered, waxed green and put to dry but in within a couple of weeks they were rubbery and changing shape nearly every day, with some bending nearly at 90 degrees, and twisting very considerably. A few months later they were feeling dry, hard but, looking more like "screws" then pen blanks so I put them in a box and set them a side to dump "burn" later. I wasn't too concern about loosing those blanks as I have plenty of this timber and already have another batch drying but this time I soaked them in timber stabilizer and tight them together with straps (another thread of mine!). Last week, and while in a phone conversation with gawdelpus, I mention this blank that I had in my hand after I decide to turn one of these twisted blanks that same afternoon, upon a close inspection that I had made on this box of blanks, that I was going to bring upstairs for the fireplace, but I was a bit puzzled with some of the colourations, and the fact that most of them even twisted, would allow turning into most pen kits, the timber was looking dry so I decide to test it out and find out if it would move any more after turned. As I was talking to gawdelpus, reminding him to check on the box of blanks I sent to him some months back, where some of these blanks were added, and marked as "green" I mention my surprise with the colours and the "snake skin" look to it, advising him to check his blanks and see how they were!. He was/is as far as I can remember, the only person I sent some of these blanks, then only a few days after I had them done, but I soon realize that was better to wait and see what they would do, as they were "moving" too much for my likings, but now that I had tested one, I decided to start this guess thread, and see how many people would mention snake skin, and of course reward the person that would get the closest to the real thing.

Once again, and because this thread was running simultaniasly with the same one at the Penturner's Paradise forum, I will notify the people there that the winner of the 20 blanks, which are the very twin brothers and sisters of the one in the pic, is Curly (Pete) from that forum. Once again congratulation to Curly, and also my best appreciation to all that participated and joined to the fun, here and there, thank you very much!
As some sort of "consolation" for those that liked the blank, I can only say that, 20 go to Curly but there are a few more left in the box, and that the blanks is this box, were cut from one piece out of 30 or more pieces (blocks) that these 2 trees produced, so is plenty to share around...!

The pics bellow are the sequence of the steps involved with this blank!

PS: the wiggle and bite clues were only a deliberate attempt to make people thing of "snakes"...! sorry!
and if you want to have a look at the Paradise brother & sister turners http://penturnersparadise.ca/forum/showthread.php?t=3746

Enjoy...! and until one next time,
Cheers
George
