Smell from acrylic

Is there anything I can do about the smell from acrylic when finished?

I've never noticed a smell when it's finished. Maybe some sort of wax is the answer?

If you get into casting your own blanks you can add scents to them though you need to take care of the impact of the scent material on the mix.

I never really notice much of a smell from my acrylic turned items.

If you're smelling acrylic after you've turned and finished it, there's something wrong. I know it has an odor when hot from being worked, but you shouldn't notice anything wafting off of it after that point.

Are you sure that is acrylic ? They may have a slight vinegary odour immediately after turning , but to my nose at least , it is gone within a few minutes . Polyester odours may linger longer , perhaps a day .

Is it from the blanks or you from being in the shop to long :biggrin::wink:? The smell usually sticks around from the heat generated from turning and sanding...then of course your choice of finish. Where do you get your blanks and are they just acrylic or something else?
