I like slim pens. I know there is no accounting for taste! So, I set out to make a kitless slimline, to see how "slim" I could get. The attached has a Ebonite section, and cap and barrel Pearlux (Alumilite) from William Wood-Write. I used an M10 x 1 plus M7 x 1 combination with Cross style refill. The cap is 12.5 mm OD, and the barrel is 10.5 mm OD. I think that I could probably have shaved 0.5 mm from both, something to aim for!

Thanks to the "magic" of Alumilite here is the same pen with cap now 11 mm and barrel 10 mm. Did not think that I could reduce the OD's by 1.5 mm and stay in one piece. Glad I did the experiment. We only learn by taking a chance on "uncharted waters". Having now spent some time working with kitless, going back to kits will feel a little strange. Of course, I have only "scratched the surface" wrt kitless, and with kits. One of the aspects of pen turning is that the options are endless. You only have to be a member here to realize that. I have lost count of the number of times that I have sound myself marveling at the wonderful creations, and asking myself, "I wonder how they did that?" So much more to learn, and never enough time!
