Tonight was quite a night for me... tried my new pen press - works damn great. Used Micromesh for the first time - fabulous, couldn't readily get those in my neck of the woods. Used thick ca - not ca that became thick after time - wonderful... Discovered spalted acacia in my braaiwood area (for non-South Africans - braai is the equivalent of a barbecue) and turned the second Slimline Pro!
The first Slimline Pro was done over the weekend - stuffed it up completely; malformed the nib by pressing too hard o a flimsy bar clamp - it shot out like a rocket, cracked the wood (Imbuya) and the bottom barrel falls out - I pressed skew so its badly misaligned BUT IT CLICKS!!!
The second Slimline Pro was done very neatly, no cracks because I plugged the tubes when gluing into the spalted acacia, properly aligned - thanks to my new pen press, fabulous finish - using fresh thick ca and accelerator and MicroMesh for the first time in combination... BUT IT DOESN'T CLICK!!!
I must admit - I don't like this kit... got three left. Seeing that I don't know how to Give Up I'll keep on frustrating myself until the very last one and simply not buy anymore. No matter what the customer wants... :-(
