Okay, I admit it is tough to turn a pen with one of these, but it can make a lot of pen blanks.

I have wanted a Skil HD-77 for some time, but did not want the retail price tag. I recently scored a rusty bargain off eBay. Invested a new blade and a little time cleaning her up Saturday.

If you are interested in the full process, I wrote it up with more pictures on my blog: Woodworking – Derusting and Restoring a Skil HD-77 Saw | Never Too Old To Learn

Here is the before & after comparison.

The old skill saws just keep running. I have one that was my wife's fathers not sure which model but it has to be at around 50 yrs old.

Some of the old tools seem to run nearly forever. I have an old Black & Decker 3/8 heavy duty drill that the lady who is now my wife bought as a gift for me before we were married. We celebrated our 51st wedding anniversary in May!
