Just had my left shoulder replaced. I'm four weeks into recovery. Is there any one out there who can tell me how long it will be before I can start turning again?

Wife had extensive shoulder surgery, not quite a replacement but they said it was compatible. She became more functional at about 2 months. At 6 months she can do a lot of stuff, but still does not have full extension or reach.

Wow... I had a torn rotator cuff surgery. And that took 3 months before even therapy could start. I wasn't permitted to move it much at all so it could heal. I'd say it took me about 5 months before I did anything in the shop. But, all surgeries are different and we all heal differently.

Listen to the Doctors and take your time. A lady who had surgery the same time I did... decided to jump into a pool before she was told she could.... tore her arm out again. It is really slow in the beginning. But once they give the green light... you can go as hard as you want. Here I am 1 year after my rotator cuff surgery.

thats a BIG weight loss target you're showing there !! 😉 Are you not concerned of fading away ??? 😜

More seriously Bryan take it easy you want to rebuild the cut muscles and that takes time . You're talking months NOT weeks here.

Stay safe

Speaking for myself, I had my chest cracked open (like open heart surgery but to remove a mass) on a Thursday and on Friday I went pheasant hunting. I told my wife Id use a 20 guage, but instead decided to take my 12. Ah to be young again...

I only had rotator cuff surgery on my truly dominant right arm. While in the sling I was applying finish to turned pen tubes. The real issue was spinning that tailstock handle with my left hand. I made it, you will too.

My physical therapist left me watch as patient after patient DID NOT DO WHAT THEY WERE TOLD TO DO. They guy in the next room was three months after surgery and I was one month. He could not and would not do much. I got corrected for extra reps and additional weight settings. I got a harness for my weed eater as it was time to cut weeds. He was interested but hired someone. I'm no better than anyone else, but I don't give up and try my best. Ice therapy is way better than drugs. I bought a Bregs unit rather than rent it.

Do your best, buy the pulley and elastic exercise bands they use in physical therapy to use on the off days. Listen to your shoulder and back off when it tells you to do it. Win at this if you try.

After surgery - very tough 50+# yellowtail - they pull hard.

Believe me that I want you to be successful and back close to normal.

I think you are joking... but the number is how much I'm pressing up.

Your Doctor is the person to ask. I felt great after 6 weeks (sling off) but did not turn or play pool until I got the green light. Had a replacement in Jan 2020. Doing very well today.
