I have an opportunity to ship a pen to Saudi. Does anyone know if there is a high risk of package loss to this country? Any other advice?

Thank you.

yah there is a risk and you cannot track your package with USPS. Other services I do not know about tracking. If you ship an expensive item though you will be worrying weather or not it made it or got stolen. I dont do it any more after I got burned on my last 2 pens shipped to Latvia. For me it is Canada and USA only

I've never shipped a pen to Saudi, but have shipped about everything else... one of my clients when I was working was located in Saudi and shipped many items there... never had any undue problems with their customs or services.

Small packages, I do recommend either DHL or Fedex... neither will be cheap.

You have to ask about shipping to Saudi Arabia! Seriously! They import folks to work as docotors because the citizens are too rich from oil to be bothered! Who do you think buys the million dollar pens we all claim "no one will really buy"? Packages get lost no matter whose servcie your using dont miss an opertunity like this because it's not the US!

Excellent point, Rick! This was a unique situation, though. It was an Ebay auction for a Special Edition Montblanc - VERY valuable. If it doesn't arrive, the buyer protection will deduct the money from my account. The seller is "always" responsible for the package. (And the USPS site didn't give an option to offer insurance to Saudi Arabia - that I could find.)

Someone else ended up buying anyway, so thanks for all the advice!

Well I can see the hesitation there Eric, It just frustrates me when I see members pass on a golden opportunity do to risk. Histories greatest successes were built on risk......some of the greatest failures too.
