Finished with BLO - I put another coat on after snapping the picture. I may shellac it and then coat it with epoxy finish or enduro some day.

Anyone got any tips on using a skew turning the outside of a bowl, and not gouging out giant chunks?

Skew is not designed for bowls. It can be used on the outside...but only after so much practice. I am one of those crazies who kept on doing it before....until it was cut short (and all bowl making activities) when I started making pens [}
