I had a few minutes between patients..

I wanted to share with you guys and girls a video made by a patient.
I have spent most of my career treating this illness that children, teens, and, now, we now even adults can suffer from.

It has nothing to do with a mental illness.
It is misdiagnosed and incorrectly treated way too many times.
Without current treatment children end up with permanent brain damage.

I missed most of my wedding ceremony for a 10 year old girl in a rage with a butcher knife in the front yard threatening neighbors. I spent several hours talking with a very kind and understanding SWAT commander who made a decision that could have cost him his career.

I saw her a few weeks ago for her yearly follow-up. She is now a beautiful young lady who is finishing law school at the University of Oklahoma and paid for her schooling by modeling.

Those who know and put up with me...know my days and nights are interesting.

As awareness of this illness grew ...my work load more than doubled.
This is why my pen making came to a halt about a year ago.....I'm just now coming up for air.

This is Sera's story.

It took a lot of courage for her to make it. Watch it please...you could save a child and their family.

Regards,
Doc:smile:

Doc

Thank you for all the work you do. You are effecting these young lives in such a positive way. I saw the video and never realize such an illness was around.

Very brave young lady. And she was lucky to have you as her doctor.

Keep up the great work.

As much as I/we (this community) admire you for your talents with your choice of recreation, your real talents are much more important to peoples lives!

How very fortunate your patients and their families have a blessing like you to turn to.

Be well Doc.

Thanks for sharing. I hate to admit it but it seems things have changed to to point where no one has to be accountable for things they do. Therefore I get the attitude everyone is spoiled and needs to be delt with in an old fashon way. I'm happy to see that there are people still taking care of the ones that have special needs and and a big thanks to those who speak out to remind me that there are still a few cases when people really need special care. It's things like this that give me a needed slap on the back of the head so I won't group everyone in the same category. Please pass this on to the young lady so she will know that putting her fears aside to make the video did do some good. Thank you as well for taking the time to help a troubled person.
Kenny D.
