I have been working on my segmenting skills alot lately and have received quite a lot of tips on another forum (yes, there is another forum). My company does a small art contest every year with a small prize so this is part of my entry. The vase is Maple and Mahogony with a friction polish finish and is made of 97 segments. I am going to include some Mahogony pens as part of the display. (And to remind people that I sell pens too.) After I finished it, the tearout on the bottom showed up so I will have to redo the bottom. I will swear it was not there when I started puttin on the finish.

Thanks for the nice words....it's not tool marks, it looks like it in the photo, it is just the way the grain showed up. There are a couple of raindrops that look like runs in the finish. It was starting to rain when I took the photo.

Cav, as always, you are too nice. You should not judge by my work. There are several things that I will do better next time.

Thanks for the comments, emails and the suggestions.
