I recently moved to Boynton Beach, and am interested in branching out from pen turning to furniture building.
As expected, the home centers down here don't seem to t carry any wood that is better than mediocre quality for framing and construction.
Can anyone recommend a source for quality wood in my area ?

Thanks!

Ed

I've had good experiences with Bell Forest Products. They are in Michigan, but ship free with orders of over $250 so buy in bulk if you can. Prices seem much more competitive than what I can get at Woodcraft in the DC metro area.

I've also heard good things about Cook Woods although haven't tried them myself. They got some nice looking boards that I might put in an order soon.

Try Constatines Wood Center of Florida.

It's hit or miss with them. But when they are stocked, their wood is beautiful and priced reasonably.
That is where I got all of my wood for my pens.

Also there is Shell Lumber and Hardware.
2733 SW 27th Ave
Miami, FL 33133

They have a good selection of hardwoods too.
Good luck.

Sturgis Lumber in Vero on US 1 is about 90-100 miles north of you.
They have a great selection in stock behind the hardware store.
Only thing—not open weekends.

It's a ways off for you but take a trip sometime and check out the Double Eagle Sawmill in Cocoa. CW Bailey is the owner. A slight bit eccentric but well worth your time.
