Hi,

I went to a friends house this last weekend and scored on some different types of wood. (Manzanita, Black Walnut, Oak etc.) It is splitting fast, I need to cut it down and seal it. What type of wax is used for this? Can I get it at Home Depot, Lowes?

Thanks,

First get the pith out fast.

I have a can of Anchorseal but you can also use latex paint on the end grain to slow drying \ cracking.

Or leave logs long.

For smaller diameter stuff I have an old crockpot with wax scrounged from several places, including candles bought at garage sales. To seal stuff under 9 inches or so, I heat up the pot and dip it.

For larger diameter stuff, I use Anchorseal. I buy mine at Woodcraft. you may find a better or different source where you live.
