Screw caps and alignment?

So just turned some Macassar ebony with very nice grain to it. This pen will be wood on wood with no center band, and used a few parts from a rhodium jr gent 1. Question is....when screwing on the cap, there are several starting positions, meaning several stoping points. Obviously when it was assembled the grain lined up beautifully, yet if not started perfectly the grain doesn't line up. Would hate to tell a customer that if you hold your breath, stand on just your left foot, and hold your mouth right, it lines up! Are there similar kits that only have one starting position? Something available in both rb and FP, with premium plating options? or even a snap cap to do away with the threading all together...and I know...no picture never happened...trust me it's coming soon!

that is one of the disadvantages of triple start threading, however it is much faster to post the cap that way. I've never had someone complain, but i would explain how it works, you might be surprised how little they care about something like that.

Cap the pen.

if it doesn't line up, unscrew until you feel it hit the next thread start and recap. Should only have to do this one or twice to find the right spot.

The Berea kits (baron/sedona etc) are 4 starts. So add one more.

The only two part snap cap that I know of that's looks to be worth anything is the PSI cigar fountain/rb.

Thanks that's the info I was looking for...assuming your referring to the big Ben cigar FP/rb...not a bad look yet the only review I see mentions problems posting the cap correctly and that's a whole nother problem I don't need. May check it out but will stick to what we have for now and go with a good explanation. Thanks!

Dude line them up correctly for display and let the client worry about the way HE/SHE recaps it!

Most of the members here are way too worried about this kind of stuff! I have only had one customer say "it's not lined up the same way" 20 seconds showing them the triple start and "wow thats kinda neat!"...........

IF lining up the same way EVERYTIME is that vital you'll have to go kitless. A snap cap will be even worse than a triple start thread.......instead of a 30% chance of getting it on the first try there is an infinite number of ways to line it up. Your customers are NOT going to hold there pen up, adjust it for grain and only then put it in there pocket!
