Went over to a friends house this weekend to help move some stuff. Her boyfriend had been doing some major yard work so I had him show me around. Saw he had a nice firewood pile. I asked if I could take a look (told him about the pen turning) and he said take what you want. Most of it was local wood. Got some nice green persimmon. Grabbed some old cherry logs...lots of wormholes and were cut at the base of the tree (anxious to cut into that one!) On the way to load up the truck I saw this vine on top of his burn pile...asked what it was and found out it's a muscadine vine (part of the grape family...this is about 6ft long) so of course I saved it from the fire! It has some cool grain to it, but has bad cracks all down the wood. Might be cool for casting. I'll have to get the camera out and post some pics in the morning since I know the saying "no pics, didn't happen" Anyhow, felt like sharing! Now back to work!
