Schmidt 888 question

I have someone who needs to replace the 888 that came with the pen I gave them. It is an 888 F, but at the end there is a number, on his it is 901, Does anyone know what that number means? Does it notate anything physical about the refil?

Hey Jason,

I don't think means anything important to us or the user. Perhaps it refers to production sequence? Looking at my 888-Fs, I have all sorts of similar three-digit numbers ranging from 804-911.
