Beware the scammers!!

My wife, received the following email today. We verified with PayPal that it was not from them. We spammed the message and forwarded a copy to PayPal so they could take action. Be careful out there. If you get one of these don't open up any attachments.

Blocked transactions from an unfamiliar location using your account. IP address: 66.251.68.142

Unauthorized access has been detected in your account.

Unfortunately, due to this event, our security system has limited the access to your account.
Account Limitations prevent you from completing certain actions with your account, such as withdrawing, sending, or receiving money.
These limitations are implemented when we see unusual or suspicious activity to help protect both PayPal buyers and sellers.

Please verify your account by completing the form which is attached in this email. By doing this, restrictions in your account will be lifted.

We'll review the information carefully and get back to you within 10 working days to let you know the outcome of our investigation.
We apologize for any inconvenience.

BTW, the IP address in the message is out of Philadelphia, Pa.

I had something similar happen a few years back. I called PayPal, and they told me that any message from PayPal will have your complete name, and will never ask you to click any link in the message to access your account.

The one I received wanted me to log in (though a link) to verify something. Of course if I did, they would then know my login.

I must have gotten on a sucker list awhile back. Every day I was getting e-mails notifying me of vast sums of money that someone eagerly wanted to send me. I'm going to ba a billionaire when I receive all these funds. I'm going to retire and move to Key West or Hawaii or Tahiti or Jamaca or..... what it's not real. Someone's always raining on my parade. I guess the thing that astounds me is that people fall for these scams.

Apparently PayPal never did anything as far as a 'follow-up' on the same email I was sent last year?

Sort of makes you wonder if they do anything with these reported incidents?

also be aware of scamming if you use on like banking. A friend of mine logged on to her on line banking account an the first page that came up asked for a host personal information including her social security number....
