I have not been around much lately because I recently started a new job. I have worked from home for the past 5 years and it has been a huge change to add a 1.5 hour commute each way to my day. Anyway, I have a Suburban and she is a gas guzzler so I am looking for an old accord to use as a commuter. I found one online and was a bit suspicious but went ahead and sent an email. Here's the email exchange, I don't think they picked up my sarcasm:tongue:. Think it's a scam?

I put my emails in blue.

Wow that sounds great. I actually just bought a car from a seller in Nigeria but I have been having trouble with sipping and have had to spend an additional $2,000 in gas sur-charges to get it shipped. I have been waiting for months now so I hope it arrives soon but in the mean time I will take the Honda from you. Send me the details ASAP.

HY

The vin number is 1HGCG1652WA060643 so you can check it at carfax. The shipping fees are included in the price of the vehicle.I work for the US Army.I bought it when i was serving in IL but i was promoted and transferred to London, UK for a 3 years period so I do not want to let it ruin in my backyard. The car will be shipped via US Military Cargo. It will take maximum 5 days until the vehicle will be delivered to your home address.
I need your full name and shipping address, and I will start the process with Amazon Payments
You have to send the money at Amazon Payments.Amazon Payments will hold the funds until you receive and accept the car. I will have access to the funds only after you test and inspect the car (you will have 7 days to do that) and in case something goes wrong or the car is not as advertised you will be fully refunded. Also the car will arrive with all the documentation's required for registration and the keys. I will send you all the papers and documents (clear title, bills of sale, car's manual) to prove the ownership and to be able to register it with no problem. The clear title and the bill of sale will be both signed so you can become owner of the car.

Thank You

Scam or not, something isn't right. Move on to something else would be my suggestion.

From experience, get an inspection done before ever putting money on the table. I bought a car from a private seller in Virginia last year. I paid an inspection service to go inspect the car and provide me the report (similar to a home inspection) with pictures and all. Since I'm on South Carolina, I was not able to see the car in person.

Once I was satisfied, then we put money on the table.

If you want the info on the inspection company I used, just drop me a PM. I was very pleased with the results.

Depending on what email service you received the original email on, you can look at the email header and see what IP address it was sent from.

You can then look up the IP address, using any number of resources found on the Internet, and determine what general area or the world it was sent from.

The wording screams out scam though. The car is located in IL. and being shipped to you in Texas vis US Military Cargo? Call the Provost Marshall on base in Klein, they will let know if this is even possible to send a vehicle from a service member to a non member.

no need going through all that trouble.

it's a scam. period.

Dude jump on it. This guy can get the military to pick it up from his back yard and have it delivered to you. He has to be pretty important and therefore trust worthy if he can pull this off.

Note drips of sarcasm

sounds like a deal i saw on cl on a camper,, owner in dallas camper in storage in memphis,,

Scam or not, Chris, my sister recently found out on her 2000 Accord that it has a cracked block, not from anything she did or didn't do, but it is an engine defect that Honda is not telling anyone about until they are past the 100,000 mile engine warranty! She was told that this defect covers cars from mid 80s to early 90s, so if you get one, you need to take it to a dealership and have them hook it up to their computer programs and get a firm commitment from them that the engine is good. Serious problem!

Hi,
as reqeusted I give you inovices issued to you per oct. (Open with Internet Explorer or Mozilla Firefox)

I got this e-mail today. Do you think it really came from UPS? Should I open the attachment? NNNOOOTTT!!!

You should get the carfax report My stepdaughter is looking for a car for our Grandson and ran across an add almost as this one. we ran the VIN through the
Sheriff dept and fount the car was stolen. She sent a reply back stating what we had found and haven't heard anything back. I would be really cautious because this is a scam.......

If you still want this car,do please make use of these suggestions.Seems running the vin with the local sherrif is the easyest to start with.I would have to do some of the rest too.
