Just stopped by to say hello. I have talked with Skiprat (Steve) and he said he has returned. I thought I would see what is new.

New? I guess it depends on how long you've been away, John. When I was last active a few of us (relatively speaking) had started looking at getting away from kits for fountain pens. I came back a month ago and found people are making their own sections for crying out loud. And there are a bunch of new kits available. I'm sure there is other stuff I've missed, but that is what jumped out at me.

Well when I left this was the hot topic that seemed to go nowhere. http://www.penturners.org/forum/f18/where-innovation-70518/ I thought Ed brought up a great topic because this site was sort of spinning its wheels. I am guessing nothing new has become of this idea or any other idea associated with the topic?????

I have been on other sites as someone eluded to and I did see the kitless craze make its appearance. Just not for me at this time. I would love to see more segmenting because there is so much that can be accomplished doing things like that. So easy to change the look of a pen with segmenting. I have been doing a few pens and have kept up with the new kits which are very nice especially Timberbits kits. Less parts and still a good looking kit.

I missed that one, John. I moved in 2008 and only started getting back into the swing of things about a month ago. But I agree with your summation of that thread. Having met Ron and been mentored by and argued with Eagle, Gary pretty much said it all.

I have seen some pretty nice segmenting in the last month though. But I haven't had time to do much of it myself just yet. But it was always one of the things I enjoyed playing with. My jigs are ready and waiting, so I'll get back into it once I get a few orders out of the way. And I have some ideas just waiting for me to try them. Don't be a stranger!
