Has anyone ever sharpened a carbide tipped blade. A local store offered to sharpen my Freud blade for .30 per tooth, but I have never heard of a sharpened blade. I am not sure of the performance of a sharpened blade.

I routinely send my good carbide blades to be sharpened. A reputable sharpener will bring a blade back to as new condition. Some of the more complex grindings do not come out the same as new but will still be sharp and it cost much less than replacing the blade. Some shops can even replace broken carbides.

Andy the best answer I would have is---How much is the blade worth-----if it cost you a bunch and you like it----sure get it sharpened. Most of the time you will get back a better blade than you started with. If the blade was a bargian---toss it and find another bargain. I send all my saw blades out to get them sharpened, but I pay several dollars for them in the first place so it is well worth it.
Hope this helps

Thanks guy's. Since I posted this I did a search in the yellow pages and found a local sharpening service that will sharpen the blade. They have to look at it to give me a quote, so they can confirm there are no broken teeth. The blade cost $50 new, but if I can get it sharpened for under half that and cuts like new it seems like a good deal. It is an odd size at 8 1/2" so my choices are usually limited when buying new blades.
