When sanding segmented pieces, what can you do to prevent the dark colored woods from bleeding into the grain of the lighter wood? I worked with my first segmented piece today, bloodwood and some white wood that I had sitting around. After sanding my white wood now has a light red in color to it.[xx(]Thanks

Use a very sharp skew. With practice, you will be able to greatly reduce or eliminate sanding. Sealing the wood with a coat or two of thin CA prior to sanding and between each grit will also prevent bleeding.

Don't qoute me here, but I believe you can use denatured alcohol and remove it. I use it between sandings and it removes alot of stuff. Even takes off the gray marks when I sand into the bushings (that's still some of the newbie in me).

I do what Stan does with CA, on occasion. Also, because I use Bloodwood and Holly a lot, I used to have problems with it. Now I stabilize the blanks first and then segment them.
