Found out my friend from Ohio that we grew up together in 1961 (he was 5 months older), passed away from cancer on Jan 9 at home. I haven't seen him since Aug 2012 when I had my 25th wedding anniv party back home. We sat and talked about all the stuff we did and he never looked or sounded ill.. He owned his own construction company and everything.. He will be saddly missed.. Unfortunately I won't be able to attend the services but I let his family know they are in my thoughts and prayers..

Sorry for your loss. I grew up in Ohio in 1961, it means your friend was not all that old too young for his time should be up. You and his family are in our prayers.

My thoughts are with you and your friends family. Lost my best friend to a stroke 3 years ago - he was 52. My focus has been to help his wife and 2 daughters; that helps ME.

PS - You also don't need to physically be there to give them support. Just steady reminders that someone cares and is concerned helps.

I, too, am a 1961'er...but from California...

Very sorry to hear of your friend's passing, it hits me hardest when it's somebody my age or younger than I am when they pass.

Gives me a renewed sense of what "Carpe Diem" really means.

Make some sawdust in his memory...
