You may have noticed that it can be difficult getting sympathy on some things here. Sorry for your loss --- I consider those medium coffee cups, and grieve with you.

Use some of that JB Weld. I think it is stronger than epoxy and you can sand it and touch up the paint around the handle. What kinds or things are you drinking that are so heavy? :)

If you use the JB Weld, be sure to give it the overnight cure time. I have (without paying enough attention) done some segment work with JB Weld, and moved on to the next step after a few hours. It failed, because I failed to wait out the designated cure time. I believe it to be a good, strong, higher temperature bond. May your mug live to see another day, back in full service!

They look like clean breaks so it should be relatively easy to fix. I'm almost convinced that you might want to use a simple glue like Elmer's rather than epoxy.....something you can apply to both surfaces and let it get tacky before you press them together. Clamping might be the biggest problem.

Well I was filling my stein and the handle broke off last night. I hope I can glue or epoxy it back on.
Do you live near a working historic site (like Colonial Williamsburg, Greenfield Village Olde Sturbridge Village, etc)? If so they might have a working potter or a working tinsmith. The tinsmith should be able to make you a "use it up handle" out of tin for your Stein. Won't look quite the same but it looks sort of neat and you still have your Stein. I used to work at Greenfield Village (in the Sawmills, Machine Shop, and Carriage Repair and Wheelwright Shop) and have several mugs/steins with Use em up handles.

Received a lot of great ideas. This one would have been great except went with the blue coffee mug this time. Maybe next year we can have blue steins. I started with in weld today and if that doesn't hold I like the idea of a use it up handle.

The 2 coats thin she 10 medium made me chuckle

Maybe it's a sign that you should start using your 11th anniversary stein.
