I would like to wish everyone a Happy and Prosperous New Year!

I will be traveling for for the next 2 1/2 months and have limited internet access, but will try to check in occasionally. I don't post a lot, but still fill like IAP is kinda like a second family. We share the good, the bad, the amusing and sometimes the ridiculous.

Anyway, we are going on a 66 day cruise around South America, and includes going up the Amazon for about 1000 miles, the Falkland Islands, Antarctica , Robinson Crusoe Island, and the Panama Canal.

I am posting a travel blog, a first for me. Anyone interested can find it at

Grand South America & Antarctica Voyage

I also maintain a weather site for any interested in weather. It is located at

Soleil Weather

Again, Happy New Year to my IAP family, where every you might be.

There is only one purpose to take a trip like that and that is to look for unusual things to make into pens. Look forward to seeing what you found.

This trip sounds amazing...although it also sounds tiring too. That is a really long time to be on a boat, even if you get to get off the boat at times, I think after a week I'd lose my marbles.

If you have to bring your marbles on a boat (god knows why), keep 'em in a jar. Keeps the deck from causing them to roll around and under the bed and stuff. And probably don't try to play a game with them topdeck. Then you'll lose them in the water.:biggrin:

I think I left my twinki in Scots Hut back in 1970 or so. Mind checking for it...should still be good.

LOL, that is ONE reason for the trip. I do hope to get some new ideas and have an opportunity to learn and actually see some of the trees we use before they are reduced to 3/4 inch square sticks! We have a guided hike in the Tapojos National Forrest (near Santareme, Brazil on the Amazon) with a local naturalist.

It is a long time on a boat, but we have 29 ports and several are for multiple days so I think I can survive but I an withholding judgment on whether I will ever do this again until after we return.... We fly out Tuesday.

***** Happy New Year everyone *****

Do you need a bag boy or porter... I'll come along and carry your bags for you... just toss me a bone once in a while to keep up my strength... except for Antarctica, which is way too cold for me, I would love any of those trips, especially the trip up the Amazon.... good for you, bon voyage, have a grand time and I'll be watching your travel log.... :hypnotized:
