I just got some 3/4" tru stone blanks. I wanted to know what the size goes down to when it's rounded enough to go into a collet.

This may be a dumb answer, but theoretically, if you turn it perfectly between centre then you should still get 3/4 round:wink:

It would depend on how accurate their measuring, and your centering are. A perfectly square 3/4 blank, mounted exactly on center, could be turned to 3/4 round. In reality, I'm sure that's a relative rarity. Figure on just slightly under 3/4.

Have you measured them to see what their REAL dimension is?

That will determine what you can hope for. Your "center marking" will determine what you GET.

If you are going to drill the blanks on the lathe you can turn them down to desired 3/4'' size, leaving some small flats on the blank, and they will drill just fine, leaving you the max size on the blank for the next step.
