Here is my take on a rocking horse. It will be presented tomorrow to my nephew. The body and rockers are ash, the saddle, straps and bridle are walnut and the mane, tail and handles are bocote with six coats of gel varnish.

great job on it I had used one as a kid that my grandfather built just slightly different. My mom and her sisters used it as well as nine grandchildren, and one great grandchild it still works fine
 
Very nice. I think I like to try something like that when ever grand kids come around (many years off!)
