What is reverse painting? Why is it done?

After you drill the blank out, paint the inside of the hole. It helps lighten/darken/tint the pen, as well as keep brass tube from showing through. Like the one I posted, the blank was VERY light and had a lot of white in it. It would look totally different if I'd done white instead of black.

To add to the good Doctor's info - it's strictly for acrylic blanks - not wood. Changing the color can impact the final look of the pen. It sure beats an ugly brass tube peering through your acrylic!

Depends on the transparency of the blank - you may still be able to see "glue bubbles" if you paint the tube instead of the inside of the blanks.
