Well all, I am retiring at the end of next week from the Sheriff Dept. I sure hope that I don't regret it. Maybe I will be piddling enough to not have it cross my mind much. I sure will not miss the politics of the county much if at all...... So now I am officially broke. LOL

Congratulations & welcome to the 'club'! I retired from teaching four years ago and haven't looked back. Between turning, casting blanks, fishing, golf, gardening, keeping up with the house, going to my youngest daughters soccer games … you get the idea … I can't figure out how I had time to work … Enjoy, you have earned it!

Congrats. I'm working the numbers right now to see if I can take the plunge in the next few months or if I have to wait another year or two.

Congratulations. Soon you will wonder how you had time to go to work. My career was in City government and the politics were the worst part of my job.

Enjoy this last week of having free time because after you retire you will be too busy to have free time. I retired four years ago and now I seem to have more to do than I ever did when I was working. At least now I may be busy but I enjoy it as will you. CONGRADULATIONS!!

Congrats and thanks for your years of service.

I retired two years ago and haven't now I can't remember how I ever had any time to work. I worked long hours when I was offically employed but I work even longer hours at various crafts and part time jobs now. Someday I'm going to find some time to go fishing and maybe someday I'll have time to get bored, but so far retirement is overwhelmingly busy.

Wow David, it's about time you retire!! You should have retired when you were in your 70's, now at 80 your to old to do anything but sit. Good luck my friend and be sure to drop in sometime and we can make that tool you need for turning.

Congratulations on your retirement. I retired 11 years ago, boy do I miss those paid holidays, paid sick leave. You will grow accustomed to the Little Lady with her list of Honey Dews and the whole neighborhood knows you have time to help them with some project. Gosh retirement is wonderful. Seriously tho, enjoy yourself, turn some pens, fish a little, putter in the yard and have great time. Oh, don't forget to pin the mistletoe on your coat tail the last day of work!!!!!

After all the recent police shootings since Saturday, I for one am happy that you made it to retirement safe and sound. Our Dad, (actually Linda's) retired a few years back. That is a job that takes a special person to perform. In this day and age it is not a job I would wish on anyone.

Congrats and enjoy. You will find as most people that you work harder as a retiree than you use to.

Congratulations on the retirement. You will enjoy it as long as you have things to do. Don't turn into a couch potatoe. Biggest problem I found with retirement is no more long weekends, vacation or days off.

Enjoy

Congratulations!

I work for a county government, and I really feel your statement about not missing the politics! But among all the people I work with I have to say I respect and appreciate those with the Sheriff's office the most. So you know when I say thanks for your service, I really mean it!

Scott.

Congratulations---
I have been on the job 32 years now. Tuesday, our board of supervisors cut our budget 6%. We are going to have to close a division and lay off some civilians. If I could walk out today, I would. I will be old enough to retire in October....let me know if it is all it is cracked up to be.
