Removing Center Band from Americana

Does anyone have trick for removing the center band from a CSUSA Americana. It wasn't happy going on. Now the two halves of the pen will not seat right.

You have a few options, almost all epoxy and glue breaks under heat, so you could bake it. You could also soak it in something that would break the bond, i.e. CA breaks under acetone, however that would also damage the metal.
