I have a tclprovs mini lathe from penn state that I use for demo's and small turnings. I was at a show last weekend doing demo's and the belt kept coming off. After inspecting it, I decided to replace it with a new one. However...
The manual says to remove the handwheel from the headstock, slide the spindle forward just enough to slip on a new belt. It says to remove the two set screws on the handwheel and remove it. I removed the set screws but the handwheel won't come off the spindle. Are these threaded? Is there something I am missing here? I tried tapping the handwheel with a mallet and it didn't budge. I tried twisting it off thinking it might also be threaded onto the spindle.
Any help would be greatly appreciated.
