Well, the Navy has successfully relocated us from Virginia Beach to Memphis, TN. I'll be working on the Navy base in Millington. We have unpacked most of the boxes inside the house, so we now have permission to work on the shop. Once we are up and running, I'll post some pics of our new setup.

Millington, was stationed there in '69 for radial aircraft engine school. Nice base, but I hope the living quarters have improved.[8D]

Hey Eric!

While I am glad to hear that you and the family made it to the new destination, I am sad that I will not be seeing you and your clan around the Hampton Roads area.

If you are still there in 4 years, I will look you up! I have been to MIllington a few times. NW MS just outside of Memphis is my home. Go to the Rendezvous for some good BBQ. There are some other good BBQ places around too!

Billy - understand the joke and my reply was meant to be tounge-in-cheek. I certainly don't have any plans to dive the "Big Muddy". I intend to get back to the "Big Blue" to keep my quals current.

Scott - we will miss VA Beach. I've been stationed there off and on for 6 different tours and a total of 12 years, but it was time for a change.

I think we are going to like the Memphis area. The base was severely downsized in the 80's, but is now growing again. We didn't take base quarters, but purchased a place out in town with more room for the kids to run around.

Eric - thanks for the offer, I'll keep it in mind. I've already found the woodworking shop in Bartlett and it is MUCH smaller than the Woodcraft in VA Beach. I think most of our business will be with online retailers.

Eric,

Prior to joining the Army I was stationed at Oceana, VF-101. It is a beautiful area and I really enjoyed my time out there. I was in "A" school in Millington for a few months. The Memphis area can keep you pretty busy as well.

Eric, just doing a quick google search for woodworking stores in Memphis, I found these two, both of which look to be pretty good. I'm a Tennessee girl, lived in Memphis in the mid-60s, and married a sailor from Millington. I have a long history with the base there, as my uncle was stationed there in the 50s, and we went to Millington every other year for the Blue Angels' visit, as well as an ex-H and current LOML and son who all went through the avionics schools there. Unfortunately, the nearest Woodcraft is in Franklin, about 4 hours away [:(]. Enjoy your stay in Memphis, you'll like it there - the people are friendly (mostly, anyway [:D]) and the weather isn't always as hot as it is right now!

Glad to see you didn't get lost, but you're getting farther away from the "Big Blue" [:D] Haven't been to Memphis in a loooong time, but still have my Bourbon Street Blues and Boogie Bar t-shirt [8D]

Glad to see you're getting settled, look forward to seeing pics of the shop from you and "the gang".
