Every such pen that I have seen, watch parts pens, has had the clip off to the side. Is there a big downfall/boo boo placing it dead center? I am using a Studio watch face, nothing fancy but I am debating on the clip placement? Suggestions appreciated. I am leaning towards dead center, reckon it is a matter of opinion. Just thought I'd throw it out for discussion. Thanks....Jan

I think most don't like to cover the watch face with the clip bc its more or less the centerpiece of the blank/pen

Jan I always put the clip on the back side of the dial. Right in the middle of the space that the dial itself don't cover. That's just me. When you use a high end watch dial like a Rolex, Franck Muller etc that's something your showing off. Especially if you spend $50-$100 for just the dial.
Really it's up to you how you want to show off your pen.

On all my pens I place the clip over the less attractive part. If it's wood I put the clip over the dullest looking part of the grain or over the seam of a casting. Just like mentioned above I would put it dead center behind the face. I have seen some put the clip off to the side so when the pen is laying down since it will not balance on the clip they put it to the side so when the pens at rest the watch face is up so it can be seen laying down. I understand this but when someone sees the pen they want to pick it up and turn it to see everything.

As a buyer (not a maker), I'd prefer the clip behind the face.

I can't imagine wanting to cover up the mainstay..would confuse the watch hands, reguardless if there was meaning to the time displayed or not...to be honest I've never thought about covering up the most important component to the presentation. Not saying I'm right...and am interested in the opinions, mostly because it seems outside of the box?:biggrin:....sorry..just re-read the op...bartender...shut me off!!!
