I was looking for a chart that had the dimentions of the blanks on it. I know some kits take a 3/4x 2 3/8" (Wall Street) or 5/8 x 2 1/2" Gatsby. I found the chart for the drill bit size and tube/bushing size.

Mike,

Just look at the instructions and look at the size of the tube. That should get you what you need.

Here's the link to the document in the reference library on kit information.

Now, to answer your questions more specifically....

Blank sizes really depend on your ability to drilll a stright hole through the center of the blank. If you don't trust your drilling, you'll need more blank size to allow for the inaccuracy of your drilling.

There have been folks here who drilled a large hole through a small blank leaving just enough material to get the bushings on and sand to final diameter. That's pretty close for most of us, especially when you have a one-of-a-kind blank.

Look at the tube diameter and give yourself plenty of space. Larger body pens need a 7/8 inch blank. Some smaller diameters still could use the 7/8 size if you don't like sweating through drilling.

I'll often buy the 7/8 blank and have it available should I want to go to a larger body style. The extra $1-2 per blank is better than ordering a totally new blank if I needed the larger size.
